Appetizer

I've happened to come across an excellent website by two Dutch guys who cycled a fair bit of the world including New Zealand. Check it out, it's well worth - interesting stories, great pictures, interactive maps and overall pleasing design... [Cycling Around The World]

I haven't finished the itinerary yet but I'm well through the South Island where I'm gonna spend most of the time. Here's a map with a brief description of the route (click to enlarge):

Christchurch - Geraldine - Lake Tekapo - Oamaru - Dunedin - Invercargill - Tuatapere - Te Anau - Milford Sound - (transfer by bus back to Te Anau) - Queenstown - Wanaka - Haast via Haast Pass - Greymouth - the Southern Alps circuit via Reefton, Lewis Pass and Arthur Pass - Westport - Nelson - transfer to North Island...

Cycling New Zealand

In this blog you'll be able to read about my biking trip around NZ - coming in February/March 2006!

I've planned a trip to New Zealand for quite a time now but the idea to do it on a bike came to me about a month ago, sometime at the end of November 2005. I've been making preparations since then, researching, buying stuff and most importantly - putting in the k's. So far I clocked in nearly 600.

I'll leave for Kiwi at the end of January and I'm planning to spend there about two months riding both South and North islands starting at Christchurch. Altogether some 4000 km. Itinerary coming real soon...
